Heidi Cruwys
Heidi started Ballroom and Latin dancing at the age of five and by the age of eleven she was competing and representing England. Heidi continued to do so as a youth and amateur competitor in European and World championships. Heidi achieved the honour of being part of the British Team and was proud that a number of her students continued to follow in her footstep’s years later.

Heidi retired from competing in 1997 to focus on her family run dance school Dance Crazy, alongside her brother and business partner Simon.

Heidi has been given amazing and fun opportunities over the years, taking part in Come Dancing before it became ’Strictly’, being part of a UB40 pop video, a dancer in films and to sit on the BBC News discussing Strictly Come Dancing, but most of all to have had the opportunity to travel and teach and see some breath-taking parts of the world, from standing on the Great Wall of China to the wonderful sights of Cape Town and Mauritius, seeing parts of Europe and meeting some wonderful people along the way which she will always be grateful for.

Heidi’s greatest achievement is raising her beautiful twin daughters, Lola-Rose and Carmen-Marie who seem to have inherited the dancing genes with wonderful artistic imaginations. Heidi’s focus became her family but she was ready for a new challenge.

Through lockdown 2020 she enrolled in the Yoga University’s teacher training course. Yoga has always been a big part of her life but she never had the time to take it further. A practise she knew benefited her body and mind, helping to align the body and stretch the muscles after a long day of dancing or teaching. A practise she wanted to share with her pupils!

‘I love the joy dancing gives to people of all ages and abilities, bringing generations of people together in the friendly atmosphere of our family run school. Dance Crazy is for everyone!’

Heidi brings her sense of fun, determination and attention to detail to all her classes and private lessons.
